Christantus Uche Ignites Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved no match against a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
