Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the group access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Schemers parties.
Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
