Wythenshawe Veterans Over-35s are situated in south the city and compete in the Cheshire-based Veterans Division Premier Division.

"It's a bit different but then, I enjoy running and just go inside - I'm not defending that much," he added.

"I warn my defender 'I'm not hanging back' and that I'm just going to continue running.

"The running is what I'm seeking. It's enjoyable."

'Surreal Scenario

In addition to the forward's 6 scores on debut, Stephen Ireland has scored 8 in 3 appearances for Wythenshawe, while George Boyd hit 5 on his first appearance and Joleon Lescott, a centre-half by position, notched a hat-trick in one game up front.

Wythenshawe are top of the Top Division with three victories from 3 and a goal difference of +19.

Paul Barrow, thirty-eight, who plays on the flank for Collegiate OB, faced ex- Latics defender Figueroa on Sunday - and had to tell his nine-year-old son who Heskey was.

"It was going round like a rumor they had these ex-Premier League stars," said Barrow.

"I felt I was a bit awestruck facing Figueroa to be honest.

"Our group literally haven't stopped chatting about it - I was phoning my mum and brother on the journey home.
