19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and frequent reactions on court had led commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a third set.

He rescued four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
